Amanda Brugel
(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large area that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is commonly called her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short time. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. In her early years she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." When I reached the height of my male counterparts then I stopped. Many dancers make the transition to acting. For Bruce, it was her drama teacher who nudged her to go in this direction. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. The teacher who suggested she pursue a part the annual school production. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, she's appeared involved in more than 60 shows, large and small. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian member.
